Centurion successfully completed our oil and gas law and contracts training program in
Malabo from July 21st to 26th.
The training, which is the first in a series of workshops that will bring together lawyers
from African petroleum producing countries, was designed to build the capacity of
both the private and public sector lawyers involved in negotiating transactions and
drafting agreements for extractive and other industries.
The objective is to assist lawyers, contract managers, geologist, and other industry
professionals in the region in the wake of discoveries in the extractive industry to
structure transactions and related policies, thereby reducing the risk of costly or
politically difficult remediation at later stages. The week ended with a visit to the world
class Punta Europa LNG Plant.
During the intensive one week training Harry, Norm and Karen covered key upstream
and midstream oil and gas issues and agreements that are important to the industry. I
believe the practical and engaging approach from the instructor coupled with their indepth
subject matter expertise was greatly appreciated by the participants. The

Centurion, con la ayuda de Harry Sullivan Asesor Legal Senior de ConocoPhillips,
Norman Nadorff y Karin Sinniger, Asesor Legal y Vicepresidente de Asuntos Legales
de BP, completó exitosamente su programa de formación en Derecho de Petróleo y
Contratos en Malabo desde el 21 de julio hasta el día 26.
El programa, que es el primero de una serie de talleres que juntarán a abogados de
países africanos productores de petróleo, fue diseñado para incrementar la capacidad
de los abogados tanto en el sector público como el privado involucrados en la
negociación de transacciones y redacción de acuerdos en la industria extractiva, así
como otras industrias. El objetivo es ayudar a los abogados, administradores de
contratos, geólogos, y otros profesionales de la industria en la región tras los
descubrimientos en la industria extractiva para estructurar las transacciones y políticas
relacionadas, reduciendo así el riesgo de remedios costosos y políticamente difíciles en
etapas posteriores. La semana culminó con una visita a la Planta de GNL de primera
categoría en Punta Europa.
Durante el curso intensivo de una semana, Harry, Norm y Karin cubrieron asuntos
claves de petróleo en el upstream y midstream y contratos que son importantes para la
industria. En mi opinión, el enfoque práctico e interactivo de los profesores, junto con
su profunda pericia en la materia, fue de gran agrado a los participantes.
Finalmente, esto no hubiera sido posible de no ser por el firme apoyo de BP y
ConocoPhillips, ya que estos no operan en Guinea Ecuatorial.
