Mauritius as one of Africa’s most competitive places of business

Mauritius remains among the Sub-Saharan Africa region’s most business-friendly countries, with solid economic policies and prudent banking practices, suitable for both domestic and foreign entrepreneurs and investors

Mauritius remains among the Sub-Saharan Africa region’s most business-friendly countries, with solid economic policies and prudent banking practices, suitable for both domestic and foreign entrepreneurs and investors. In the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business Ranking, the country is in the top 13 globally and ranks first in Africa.

The Mauritius IFC boasts more than two decades’ track record in cross-border investment and finance, and offers an unparalleled well-regulated and transparent platform. As an internationally recognised jurisdiction of repute, the Mauritius IFC is home to a number of international banks, legal firms, corporate services, investment funds, and private equity funds.

Furthermore, the automation of licensing permissions and the digitalization of most processes have made Mauritius one of the friendliest places to do business in Africa.

Thanks to their technological and National Electronic Licensing System advances, most business licensing, including building and land use licenses can now be processed online. Similarly, the incorporation of a business entity can be done by a registered management company in a matter of days, subject to the required documentation being provided in a correct and timely manner.
