Centurion LLP has firmly established its reputation for excellence. For the second year running, the practice has been listed as Equatorial Guinea’s top-ranked legal firm by Chambers & Partners. And Centurion is bringing its legal expertise to more markets in Africa this year.

Chambers & Partners reviews the top performing lawyers and law firms in over 190 countries and releases the Chambers Global guide every year in March. The guide rates Centurion as a ‘Band 1’ firm in General Business Law in Equatorial Guinea, highlighting its expertise in oil and gas negotiations and licensing, as well as finance and maritime mandates.

“This firm is one of the largest in Equatorial Guinea and benefits from broad African coverage thanks to offices in Cameroon and Ghana”, states the report. Chambers’ sources said that Centurion is “very forward thinking in its approach” and highlighted the Centurion team’s arbitration skills. Managing partner NJ Ayuk “attracts significant praise from market observers for his expertise in the oil and gas sector.”

“The Chambers & Partners rankings reflect the hard work of everyone in the firm to strive for excellence in their work,” said Ayuk.

In 2015 Centurion is expanding its presence as legal group with a large African footprint. The firm opened an office in Johannesburg in January. “While we are happy to be ranked at the top of our profession in Equatorial Guinea, 2015 is the year when Centurion branches out to become an Africa-wide player with our Johannesburg office leading our goal to be one of the top firms in the region,” said Ayuk.

Chambers Global states that “Africa is a growing legal market and work across the continent is of increasing significance to both international law firms and local firms with regional practices.”
